DON Iniesta calls it a day..
This day will be noted as the black day in Barcelona football history as Iniesta calls it a day for his Barca career. Iniesta has confirmed that he will be leaving Barcelona after serving for 22 years.
Iniesta is a product of Barcelona youth academy La Masia. He made his first team debut in 2002.He has been an integral part of Barcelona since 2004-2005 season. During his service he won two trebles in 2009 and 2015 and a total of 34 trophies with Barcelona. He was also the runner up to Lionel Messi for FIFA Ballon d'Or.
Iniesta started his career has a defensive midfielder but due to his exceptional ball control and agility he started playing as an attacking midfielder. He is known for his extraordinary passing ability and having a complete control over midfield.
Iniesta is also know for the chemistry he shared with Xavi and Messi. They used to play for Barca in the youth academy and all the three have complete understanding of each others game. They have also been shortlisted for the final three in the Ballon d'Or race with Messi winning the prize in 2010.
Iniesta signed a lifetime contract at Barca in October 2017. He also featured in his 650th game of the career in January 2018. All this was not able to keep him at Barca. It is rumored that he will move to China in the coming months. "I have said I will never play against Barca, so I won't play in Europe. All options outside of Europe could be possible. [My next move] will be finalised when the season ends."
Iniesta will be ending his Barcelona career with a double. Barca has already won the Copa del Rey and they have both their hands on the league as they sit on top of the table with 11 points ahead of second place Atletico Madrid and a game advantage.
